Crystal Rouse received her J.D. from the North Carolina Central University School of Law and her B.A. in English from Barton College. She had eight years of experience as a Social Security Disability Determination Services Examiner prior to obtaining her law degree in 2008. At least one person was injured in a collision between a semi truck and a car in New Hanover County, North Carolina on Feb. 17 at 3:59 p.m. The accident occurred in Wilmington when a 2003 Freightliner semi truck was traveling west on McClelland Drive through the intersection of McClelland Drive and North Kerr Avenue and struck a 2006 Nissan which was going north on North Kerr Avenue. Witnesses said the Freightliner semi truck pulled out in front of traffic and caused the accident. The Nissan driver was clearly injured, while the semi truck driver was potentially injured. Both were transported by New Hanover County EMS to New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington. The semi truck driver was cited for failure to yield right of way. Damage to the semi truck was estimated at $2,500; damage to the Nissan, $7,500.

A 9 year old boy was injured in a one car accident in Nash County, North Carolina on Feb. 23 at 7:38 a.m. The accident occurred in Rocky Mount when a 2004 Ford was traveling south on Raper Drive near Hunter Hill when it attempted to navigate around a curve at excessive speed, lost control and rolled over into a ditch. The 9 year old passenger was transported by Nash County EMS to Nash General Hospital in Rocky Mount. No one else was injured The Ford driver was cited for driving with excessive speed for existing road conditions. Damage to the Ford was estimated at $5,000.
